  • I am a product of Oregon’s public school
    system graduating from a Washington
    County High School.
     
  • I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Social
    Sciences with an emphasis in Political
    Science from Portland State University.
     
  • I have been married 23 years to Timothy
    Strelchun who works for Intel.
     
  • We have two children at Glencoe. They
    both attended Evergreen and Jackson.
     
  • I have been an active volunteer in and
    out of the classroom for over 15 years.

ABOUT ME

Tireless Advocate

  • Built relationships with local and state leaders as part of promoting improved education funding and public education policy.
  • Supported increases in Career Technical Education and vocational training.
  • Championed improving the number of education options in Hillsboro from Hillsboro Online Academy to STEM options, a K-8 option and City View Charter school.
  • Assisted with district goals and work that prioritized equitable practices for all students including dual language education and improved instructional practices for our diverse range of learners.

Deep Working Knowledge

  • Visited schools on a regular basis to strengthen my knowledge and learn first-hand from students, building staff and district administration.
  • Served actively on multiple district committees focused on district advancement including the Long Range Planning Committee, College Career Pathways Committee, Teacher Evaluation Committee, Equity Team, and bargaining teams.
  • Continued self-education and professional development through Oregon School Board Association leadership training, including Leadership Oregon, and the Chamber’s Leadership Hillsboro program.

Fiscally Responsible

  • Focused budget decisions on targeted investments centered on student achievement and graduation preparedness.
  • Advocated for a full school year and increases in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.
  • Gathered data, including classroom observations and research, to make informed curriculum adoption decisions.

Community Involvement

  • Attended superintendent listening sessions, coffee chats and other outreach opportunities.
  • Continued to volunteer in elementary classrooms, the Glencoe counseling center and with the Hillsboro Schools Foundation.
  • Worked with district staff to create more open and transparent communication with the community and improved ways to gather public feedback.
